Our story
We are the appraisal arm of a brick-and-mortar comic shop that has been buying and selling vintage comics for more than thirty years. That matters for one reason: knowing what a book is worth requires having been wrong about it before, in person, with money on the line. Every offer here is built on that.
For most of those years the process did not change. A seller would call, we would drive out, spend a few hours going through the boxes, and make an offer at the kitchen table. It worked. But it was slow, it was opaque to the person selling, and it was not consistent — a collection seen at nine in the evening after a long day did not get the same assessment as the same collection at ten on a Tuesday morning.
The part that troubled us most was the opacity. A seller had no way to check our working. They were taking a number on trust, from someone with an obvious interest in that number being low, and the honest ones among us knew how much that asked.
So in 2024 we rebuilt the front of the process. Photographs of the covers go through an identification and grading pass — an AI model reading each cover against a fixed set of questions, cross-referenced against comic book databases — and each book is then valued against recent sales rather than a guide. The output is a written report: every book identified, graded and priced, with the fair market value each offer was calculated from. You read it before we arrive, and you read the same one we do.
What has not changed is the rest of it. We still make the drive, still check every book by hand, and still pay within 48 hours. An appraisal from a photograph is an estimate, and we say so on every document it appears on. The difference is that the conversation at the kitchen table now starts from a number you have already had time to examine.

Every offer is built from recent sales data rather than guide prices, and the report shows the fair market value each offer was calculated against, book by book.
We buy the whole collection
Not only the valuable issues. Common runs, filler and bulk material are priced too — a collection stripped of its keys is much harder for a family to place afterwards.

No moving long boxes. We travel anywhere in the ten-state service area, collect at a time that suits you, and pay within 48 hours of verifying the books.
